The summer that wasn't is definitely over and I am getting ready to drive back to Montreal. Seem to have spent more time making jams and pickles, not to mention dead heading flowers, than quilting but hope to be able to post a picture of my new red quilted jacket soon. I tried to take the month of August off the appraising circuit and rarely turned on the computer but still managed to get to two quilt shows. Both shows were country events complete with ham baked goodies and cups of tea, both had new , vintage and antique quilts at one they were displayed on the church pews.
Now that the swimming season has passed I am in visiting mode. I traveled to PEI to view the Kindred Spaces Showcase a competition for Japanese and Canadian quilters as part of the celebration of 100 years of the publication of Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery. The intent was to depict the essence of Anne and I am shown here with the first place winner done by Karen Neary who also co-authored our book Canadian Heritage Quilting Quick Creative Designs , due from the printers late October. The Japanese quilters do amazing intricate meticulous work creating awesome designs . Another of my clients placed second so her work will also be exhibited at the the Nagano Quilt Show this fall.
