Fall is here and I am back in Montreal starting the round of fall quilt shows. Spending this weekend in delightful country just south of Montreal but close enough to see the Green Mountains of Vermont. The enthusiastic group of 125 French Canadians fill a large hall with quilts many of them hand quilted, every fall.
I Only appraised one vintage quilt but did an interesting applique one called Blossom quilt made from a McCalls pattern purchased by the makers Aunt in 1939 for 35 cents. There are 2 raffle quilts and I am pictured with the Guild president and my appraisal student Nicole who is also an excellent translator.
I haven't visited your website before-very impressive! I love your friend's Anne of Green Gables quilt. Congrats on the book!

Hi there...
It's always amazing to me, what tends to happen when you least expect it. I've been fairly nostalgic lately... remembering times my granny sewed. She made some of the most beautiful quilts (in my mind), and made all of her tea towels, aprons.. basically anything really.
She passed away before I appreciated the "need" of wanting to learn the importance of a bobbin and the satisfaction of creating handmade items that become heirlooms (as I look fondly at one of her quilts on my daughter's bed now)...
anyway, not to digress... I've been dilly dallying around in learning because I now have to find somewhere to learn, and someone to teach me how to sew and quilt and all that jazz.... so I was like, "bahhumbug".. and "I don't want to learn it if granny can't teach it"..blahblah and that was that... (just this morning)....
So this afternoon, I logged into my blog, which I've greatly neglected since the birth of my daughter (because I just enjoy her so much)...scrolled down and saw your blog having just been updated, randomly clicked..... and realized it's high time I do learn how to sew and quilt now, so that I may share it with my own daughter as she grows :)
So.. long story short, thanks! (even though I know you didn't really do anything, and you're wondering who this crazy girly is....) but wanted to say "Hi", and I do appreciate the motivation you've inadvertently tossed my way.
Have a happy day..
Sas
p.s. - have you heard of etsy dot com ? it's a fantastic community...
