Fall is here and I am back in Montreal starting the round of fall quilt shows. Spending this weekend in delightful country just south of Montreal but close enough to see the Green Mountains of Vermont. The enthusiastic group of 125 French Canadians fill a large hall with quilts many of them hand quilted, every fall.
I Only appraised one vintage quilt but did an interesting applique one called Blossom quilt made from a McCalls pattern purchased by the makers Aunt in 1939 for 35 cents. There are 2 raffle quilts and I am pictured with the Guild president and my appraisal student Nicole who is also an excellent translator.
