March is here and fortunately my winter project, a large Log Cabin Quilt is almost pieced, a wedding gift for a summer wedding . I Also made a couple of quilts for a new charity here in Montreal, Philou a respite care facility for handicapped children.
I Started the year with a couple of book signings. The January one was snowed out, but in February twenty-five people joined me at Maison de Calico, the oldest Quilting supply shop on Montreal Island for tea and scones while I told the story of writing Canadian Heritage Quilting and showed many of the vintage quilts used in the book.
The Spring issue of Canadian Quilter had a nice review of the book as well as instructions for making Mom's Ship of Dreams quilt, shown in the book but not patterned there. I have started to get quilts ready for their trip to Paducah, KY in April, since Canada Customs likes to know what I am taking in and out of the country.
I will be giving one of my new lectures "What Comes Around Goes Around", as well as teaching two sessions on edge finishes. Just realized that some of these quilts have been in my collection but slipped through the radar in regard to appraisals, sleeves and labels lack of them that is so amin the process fo doing that. I cannot put a value on my own quilts but hopefully will get some of the appraisers attending the show to complete the appraisals.
We are traveling south when the snow stops so I have some hand quilting projects lined up finishing one silk project and starting a n appliqued pillow top.
I will be appraising and signing books at two quilt shows in may, on may 30 I will be at the West Island Quilt show in Pointe Claire. Plans are almost finalized for the summer in Nova Scotia. I hope to get there by mid June.
